Jong Vocaal Groningen

Welcome to the website of Jong Vocaal Groningen, a classical choir with a broad repertoire. Our choir performs works by Renaissance composers such as Sweelinck, to contemporary composers such as Schronen and Gjeilo. We have collaborated with various ensembles, including the percussion ensemble Constantijn Huygens and the Drents Symphony Orchestra.

In 2016 and 2018, Jong Vocaal Groningen, with the cooperation of the Apollo ensemble, performed Bach's cantatas BWV 131 ('Aus der Tiefen') and BWV 150 ('Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich') in the Grote Kerk of Leeuwarden. In addition, we gave several performances of Rossini's Petite messe solennelle in 2018 and 2019.

Our choir regularly participates in national and international competitions and has won several prizes. For example, we won first prize in the choir festival on Schiermonnikoog in 2006, 2012, and 2016, and successfully participated in the Harmonie Festival in Lindenholzhausen, Germany in 2017. In 2018, we placed fourth in the Dutch Choir Festival (NKF), earning the distinction of being an "NKF top choir."
